It’s Friday night pizza time! And today I’ve got a super simple pizza idea that uses just 5 ingredients. You can swing by and pickup the ingredients for this pizza on the way home from your busy day.
Since chicken Parmesan is one of my husband’s favorite dishes, I thought I would incorporate those flavors in a simple pizza recipe.
This pizza starts out with Pillsbury’s Artisan pizza dough. I pre-bake the dough, then top it with Marinara sauce, sliced chicken strips that I picked up in my grocer’s deli and Italian blend shredded cheese. Then after baking, I just top with some freshly chopped basil. I served this pizza with a simple bagged Caesar salad.
My whole family raved about this pizza. They loved the cheesy fried chicken on top of the flavorful marinara sauce. If you want to make this a meatless recipe, just make your own oven fried eggplant, and slice before adding to the pizza.
Yield: 4 servings
Chicken Parmesan Pizza
Ingredients:
- 1 can (13.8 oz) Pillsbury® refrigerated artisan pizza crust with whole grain
- 1/2 cup Marinara sauce
- 8 strips deli fried chicken, chopped
- 2 cups shredded Italian blend cheese (Parmesan, mozzarella, Asiago)
- 1 large bunch fresh basil, chopped, for garnish
Directions:
- Heat oven to 400°. Roll dough out onto cookie sheet and press until desired thickness. Pre-bake dough for 10 - 15 minutes, or until light golden brown. Remove from the oven. Spread pizza sauce on top of dough and then top with chopped fried chicken and cheese.
- Bake pizza for 18 – 20 minutes, or until golden brown around edges. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
